With a fresh new year laid out in front of you, it’s time to assess your marketing plan for 2020. As you’re doing so, make sure that you add these trends that are projected to be must-haves for the year.
1. Focus on Customer Experience
With customers being savvy enough to gather the information they need to make decisions regarding their spending, marketing is shifting from trying to convince people that your product is the best. Instead, the focus is on building a business culture that is positive, welcoming and inclusive.
According to PwC data, nearly three-quarters of people place high importance on customer service. Less than half of those in the United States say that companies are giving them a good experience though. Components of a great customer experience include a seamless mobile experience, efficiency, brand design and image and friendly service.
2. Ensure Employee Engagement
Friendly and efficient service is the backbone of ensuring that every customer has a great experience. Arming your employees with the skills they need to deliver this type of experience is imperative. According to the PwC study mentioned previously, nearly 50 percent of consumers feel compelled to abandon a brand if they interact with employees who aren’t knowledgeable. Furthermore, consumers have no qualms about nixing future dealings with a company if they encounter a bad attitude from employees.
Building employee engagement means ensuring that each one understands your brand’s mission, goals and values. Your employees must also be aligned with them and understand how they all work together.
3. Go Visual
Visual content will continue to see growth as a mechanism for capturing and keeping a consumer’s interest. Research by Venngage bears this assumption out. Content that included images boosted the view rate by 94 percent while visuals with color make the content more desirable to read. Adding a video about your product means that people are more likely to make a purchase after viewing it.
Because visuals are better remembered, adding infographics, videos and images to your marketing strategy makes your content more attractive and interesting. Better still, using both written content and visuals can make it easier for consumers to absorb your brand’s message.
These three digital marketing trends are easy to add to your marketing plan. Implementing them now can help ensure that 2020 is your brand’s best year yet.
