What Content Marketing is Now

Today we think (mostly) of digital content marketing, which comes in various types. It includes web articles, blogs, white papers, case studies, infographics, eBooks, gamification tactics, social media posts and hashtags, content widgets, commentaries, podcasts, maps, reviews, slide shows, music, toolkits, user-generated comments, such as testimonials and discussion boards, videos, gifs, and XML feeds.

Content with a Purpose

Content marketing should always have a purpose and goal. It can increase brand awareness, boost sales, enhance customer interactions and engagement, and build loyalty. Content marketing can generate leads, of course, but it also can help educate current and potential customers about products, services and promotions. It can create deeper customer relationships and build a communal feeling around your brand.

Relevance

Content marketing works because it offers current and potential customers informative and expedient material they need as they do research and move along the buyer’s journey—from research and investigation to (if done well) purchase or involvement decision.

Value

Content marketing today is less about product promotion and more about audience education and enrichment. Value-dense content is paramount. It must evolve with technology, but it must also be useful and functional to the human nature of your audience. Purposeful and customer-centric.

Let's get together to talk about your goals, story and how we can help you bring to life real results.

Our Content Discovery Process

When we determine the mix of content marketing most effective for you and your goals, we consider editorial strategies, content structures, governance and your current and past marketing efforts.

Assessment

We assess which channels are best to reach your target audience and what channels are best for specific messaging. Which type of content you use depends on all these factors. If a form or channel fits your brand and is acceptable to your audience, you can—and should—embrace it.

Understand Your Audience

We dig not only into demographics, but the psychographics of your audience members. How do they spend their time, energy and money? Because people are people, understanding what they do and what they value can lead to more meaningful engagement with them.

We Create Engaging Content

Because we are customer centric, the content marketing packages we produce vary by client and purpose, but our specialties include blogs, white papers, case studies, infographics, eBooks, social media posts and hashtags, content widgets, commentaries, podcasts, slide presentations, videos and email marketing.

Blogs

We love what a well-written and structured blog can do for a client. Regular blog posting builds client specialty and leadership and—if thought leadership is a goal—social proof. Blog content, including images, can boost rankings and enhance website authority. Blog content can be used for social media, particularly if a client wants to educate audiences or build trust and credibility. By clustering topic blogs through internal linking, we can help a client create greater authority in Google’s algorithms, which increases SERPs.

Case Studies

We use case studies to promote a client’s business or company and help our clients build credibility with their customers. Case studies have been around for years, but their longevity is because they work.

Positive outcomes from case studies—and sometimes even negative ones—prove how a product or service can solve a problem. They provide scope and context around an issue, which inherently builds greater credibility than a client buying an ad that says, “We’re a great solution.” Case studies are particularly valuable in B2B marketing, as a majority of B2B buyers look to case studies during their buying or selection process.

Infographics

Infographics are graphical representations of data (images) that include statistics and easy-to-digest charts.

Almost any information can be translated clearly in a visually arresting graphic design. (We call your attention to airport icons.) By branding infographics, we can help clients reach brand association goals.

Remember also that Google includes visuals in its keyword rankings and infographics hit all the buttons. Google Images, anyone?

Videos

This seems self-explanatory. Video is easily one of the most commanding ways to learn, gather information, entertain and build awareness and association. We do video. All the video.

Whitepapers

We create whitepapers to help clients educate their audiences about a particular issue, or explain and advocate for a particular methodology. We think of them as information-dense problem-solving manuals. (Except not boring and hard to read.) We encourage clients to use gated whitepapers, so they collect some contact information from which a client can generate leads.

Podcasts

Not everyone appreciates a good audio story, but those who like to live and learn via an auditory path can connect well to podcasts. Podcast transcripts, particularly Q&A format, can live on a client’s website and provide blog or social media content.
